MADRID — A game originally scheduled for earlier in the week was played Friday, with host Madrid seeming not to care about the date change as the Tigers claimed a 14-5 conference victory over Panorama.

The Panthers (1-2, 1-2) grabbed a 1-0 lead in their first at-bat, but the Tigers (4-3, 4-3) scored twice in the second inning and five times in the third to open a 7-1 gulf.

Panorama trimmed their deficit to 7-5 in the top of the fifth, two two Tigers runs in the bottom half of the frame and five more in the sixth settled the issue.

Evan Taylor threw 2-2/3 frames for the Panthers in being handed the loss. He allowed seven runs (five earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out two. Luke South pitched three frames of relief and was saddled with seven unearned runs on six walks and two hits while tallying four strikeouts, with Brice Taylor retiring one batter.

Drew Taylor had a double, a RBI and scored once for the guests, with Dominic Walker hitting two singles, driving in one run and scoring once. South, Koltin Sloss, Preston Walker and Evan Taylor also had hits, with Evan Taylor scoring twice and South and Levi Richey once each.

Nolan Owensby went all seven frames to collect the win for Madrid. He yielded five runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks while fanning six.

Catcher C.J. Dean had a single, a double and two RBIs while his courtesy runner, Eric Steig, stole four bases and scored three times. Conner Williams aided the Tiger cause with a double, two singles and two RBIs.

Panorama visits AC/GC Monday before hosting Ogden Tuesday and Martensdale-St. Marys Wednesday. They will then entertain Woodward Academy for a varsity doubleheader Thursday.
