Two more Perry students test positive; 17 quarantined

One Perry High School student and one Perry Elementary School student have tested positive this week for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, according to PCSD Superintendent Clark Wicks.

The high school student tested positive Sunday, Dec. 20, and the elementary school student tested positive Monday, Dec. 21, Wicks said. In addition, 17 students have entered 14-day quarantined.

All students and families in contact with the students have been notified, he said, and all other students can attend classes as normal.

The school district’s current positive case count is 13 students and two adults, a prevalence rate of .009.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has infected 36 students and eight staff members since classes began Aug. 19 in the PCSD, according to communications from the PCSD. The list of cases follows.

The current population of students and staff in the Perry Community School District numbers about 1,801, including about 1,400 students receiving onsite instruction and about 200 receiving off-site instruction.
