Authorities are seeking two African American juvenile males who were reported missing from the Woodward Academy about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

The youth are believed possibly to be hiding in a cornfield south of the grounds of the Woodward Resource Center, according to authorities.

If you see the two runaways, do not approach them, but call the Woodward Police Department at 515-993-4567.

The Woodward Police Department, Woodward Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office are assisting the Woodward Academy in the search.

  1. Why are so many young men are running from that place? It seems like every week or two someone takes off. Have they started to take in more troubled youth than they were before and this is the result? Or has the high turnover of staff has resulted in too many who are not “getting along,” or maybe there has been a crackdown on some issues that were occurring (let’s not assume that the crackdown is wrong/bad and is not what they need and those that stick around will be better for it). Or maybe it’s just a string of bad luck for the facility.
Whatever it is, perhaps ThePerryNews.com could do some interviews of staff and some former recent residents (and their parents) could be found and spoken to as well.
