After more than one year of renovations, Perry Beauty is hosting a grand opening today, Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 1217 Willis Ave. The public is welcome to stop in and enjoy some fresh and very tasty egg rolls and learn more about the salon’s services.
Perry Beauty owner Cathy Nguyen of West Des Moines was joined Tuesday afternoon by her daughter, Trang Jorgensen of Ankeny, and her 6-month-old granddaughter, Eveleen Jorgensen.
Perry Beauty offers a full line of salon services, from nails and hair to waxing and massage. Nguyen said the salon’s hours are Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 515-465-5814.
Restoration work on the western half of the Taylor Building at 1211 Willis Ave. will continue in the spring, Nguyen said, with the goal of opening a bar or family restaurant — or maybe a combination of the two.
The restoration effort has been an affair of the whole family, Nguyen said, with her husband, Long Pham, and Jorgensen’s husband, Trent Jorgensen, also lending their time and talents to the family’s first venture into the world of a small business. Her 12-year-old Anhky Pham, known in the family as Bii, also lent a hand, she said.
