Tyson’s chicken added to Emergency Mobile Food Pantry Wednesday

Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. will see the first emergency mobile food pantry held in the north parking lot of the Dallas County Hospital. The second will be held at the Raccoon Valley Bank in Adel Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m.

More than 1,900 boxes of Tyson Foods Inc. chicken will be given away free Wednesday at 3 pm. at the Elks Lodge at 18th and Willis.

Wednesday’s emergency mobile food pantry at 5 p.m. at the Dallas County Hospital will be preceded at 3 p.m. by a free giveaway of Tyson’s chicken at the Perry Elks Lodge, the Dallas County Hospital and Family Medicine Clinics announced Tuesday.

“We are thankful for all the donations for the Emergency Mobile Food Pantries,” said DCH Marketing and Foundation Manager Macinzie McFarland. The DCH partnered with the Raccoon Valley Bank and several local businesses to sponsor the emergency mobile food pantry.

Tyson Foods Inc. has donated more than 1,900 boxes of chicken to Wednesday’s event, McFarland said , so in order to help alleviate traffic during the event, the Emergency Mobile Food Pantry team has partnered with the Perry Elks #407 to utilize their parking lot for the chicken donation only starting at 3 p.m.!”

Community members wishing to receive the free chicken are asked to line-up facing north on 18th Street to enter the Perry Elks parking lot and exit out to Willis Avenue.

The emergency mobile food pantry will continue at 5 p.m. in the north parking lot of the Dallas County Hospital.

A second emergency mobile food pantry will be held at the Raccoon Valley Bank in Adel Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m.

Donation sponsors include Tyson Foods Inc., Dallas County Hospital Foundation, Van Wall Equipment, Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce, Perry Fareway, Adel Fareway, Perry Hy-Vee, Minburn Communications, Progressive Foundry, Hy-Line International and Dallas County EMS.

Food and information will be given out on first come-first serve basis until the supply is gone. Volunteers will practice social distancing and will use CDC safety guidance with proper personal protection equipment (PPE), and attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times. Please follow directions from our volunteers upon entering the mobile pantry on parking and traffic flow guidance.
