Flood waters over Iowa Highway 169 at the Raccoon River Bridge in Adel forced the roadway’s closure Thursday morning and are expected to recede next week.
In order to detour around the closure, the Iowa DOT suggests motorists travel on U.S. Highway 6 eastward to County Road R22 and then northward to Iowa Highway 44 and then westward to U.S. Highway 169.
Concrete patching on County Road P58 is ongoing until late October, making the roadway unavailable as a detour.
According to the National Weather Service office in Des Moines, the Raccoon River levels near Perry peaked at 17.86 feet Friday, Oct. 12 and are expected to fall below the 15-foot flood stage by Sunday afternoon.
