U.S. Congressperson and Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard will meet and greet Perry voters at the Perry Perk coffeehouse Thursday at 6 p.m.
Gabbard is a member of Hawaii National Guard and the U.S. Representative representing Hawaii’s second Congressional district.
Gabbard was elected to Congress in 2012, becoming the first Samoan American and the first Hindu member of the U.S. Congress. When she was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2002, she was the youngest woman ever elected to a U.S. state legislature at age 21.
Major Gabbard served in a Hawaii Army National Guard field medical unit from 2004 to 2005 in a combat zone in Iraq and was deployed to Kuwait from 2008 to 2009.
The Perry Perk is located at 1201 Warford St. in downtown in Perry.
