Johnston-based UnityPoint Clinic will open a walk-in clinic in Perry early next month, a UnityPoint spokesperson said Friday.
Matthew Romanin, regional vice president of operations for UnityPoint Clinic of central Iowa, said Perry’s UnityPoint facility will be located at 528 First Ave., between Na Na Nails and U.S. Cellular.
“We’re actively working to complete the space now,” Romanin said. “We anticipate opening around the first of December of this year, and we also look forward to introducing our provider to the community in the very near future.”
He said the clinic will have “limited but consistent hours out of the gate. We’ll be adapting to community demand. We’re very much committed to the community, but we’ll grow as the demand for our services grows.”
In addition to a nurse practitioner providing primary care, visiting specialists in cardiology and general surgery will also offer their services, he said.
“We look at Perry as a growing extension of the rest of our region,” Romanin said. “It allows us to serve not only that community but the western edges of Dallas County, too. We’re pretty excited, and we look forward to being open here in the winter.”
UnityPoint Clinic has about 900 providers in three states, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. UnityPoint Clinic Central Iowa has about 290 providers, ranging from primary to specialty care and practicing both in metro Des Moines and in communities such as Jefferson, Osceola and soon in Perry.
“Our goal long term clearly is to have a thriving practice in partnership with the entire Perry medical community,” Romanin said.
Very good! The Mercy Clinic in Perry does an excellent job but is often overwhelmed. This will provide more options for the community and relieve the Mercy Clinic of being overrun so often.
