UPDATE: Amber Alert canceled after 5-year-old found safe, sound

Jeremy John Kiel, 46, left, and Amy Lynn Burick, 35, were arrested Tuesday night in connection with the alleged abduction of a 5-year-old boy.

The Amber Alert issued for a 5-year-old boy was canceled about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday after the child was found unharmed, according to public safety radio traffic.

Abel Lee Keil, 5, was found in Anamosa about 10:30 p.m.

Abel’s alleged abductors, Jeremy John Keil, 46, and Amy Lynn Burick, 35, were also taken into custody.

An Amber Alert was issued about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday for a missing and endangered 5-year-old boy abducted from the tiny Jackson County town of Baldwin, Iowa, about five miles west of Maquoketa in eastern Iowa.

Abel Lee Kiel, 5, is a white male standing 3’6″ and weighing 40 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. He was last seen about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Baldwin, wearing a blue T-shirt with a smiley face, blue shorts with animals and Batman sandals.

Abel is believed to be traveling to Clinton or Davenport possibly in a silver Honda CRV with damage to driver’s side headlight.

Abel is believed to have been abducted by:

Jeremy John Kiel, 46, a white make standing 6’2″ and weighing 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes

Amy Lynn Burick, 35, a white female standing 5’5″ and weighing 150 pounds, with long brown hair and brown eyes.

The abductors are believed to be under influence of narcotics, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Abel Lee Kiel is asked to call emergency 911 or Jackson County Deputy Sheriff Melissa Schmidt at 563-652-3312.
