Firefighters quickly controlled the blaze at 17998 K Trail Friday afternoon.

The house fire Friday at 17998 K Trail in rural Perry was caused by an electrical problem on the second floor, according to a spokesperson from the Minburn Volunteer Fire Department.

“It looks like it was started by an electrical malfunction,” said Minburn Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter Dan Case. “Fortunately, the damage was pretty much contained to the upper-story area. No injuries, thankfully, and that’s kind of the gist of it.”

There fire was reported shortly after 2 p.m. and quickly controlled by firefighters from Minburn, Dallas Center, Perry and Adel.

“We’re still trying to figure out the exact cause of it,” Case said of the blaze in the 42-year-old, 11-room house. The property is owned by David Rosenberger, according to county records.

The fire occurred inside the Minburn Fire District, and that agency was the first on the scene, followed by mutual-aid tankers from the Dallas Center Volunteer Fire Department, Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Adel Volunteer Fire Department. The Bouton Volunteer Fire Department was paged but later disregarded.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS also responded.
