A driver traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph on westbound Iowa Highway 141 at the Four Corners east of Perry and in excess of 80 mph near the Dallas County Hospital in Perry was stopped and arrested Saturday night about midnight after appearing to fail a field sobriety test.
Dominic James McClain, 55, of Perry was charged with first-offense OWI after a traffic stop initiated by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper about 11:45 p.m. in the Shopko parking lot in Perry.
An officer of the Perry Police Department stood by as the trooper administered the test to McClain, who was afterward transported to the Dallas County Jail and is being held on a $1,000 cash or surety bond.
McClain will appear before a Dallas County Magistrate Sunday morning.
