The trial of Eric Chandler Parmenter, 29, of Ankeny and formerly of Perry began Monday on four counts of third-degree sexual abuse-forcible rape. The judge dismissed two of the counts on a motion by the Dallas County Attorney's office.

The former Perry man arrested and charged Friday with four counts of third-degree sexual abuse-forcible rape allegedly committed the crimes as long as 10 years ago.

A statement released Monday afternoon by the Perry Police Department said the complaints against Eric Chandler Parmenter, 28, of Ankeny alleged he “committed a sex act on a female under the age or 18 without her consent” on “four separate occasions between 2008 and 2010.”

The victim of the alleged rapes reported the abuse in June 2017, and an investigation followed by the Perry Police Department, resulting in Parmenter’s arrest.

Parmenter was booked into the Dallas County Jail about 7:30 p.m. Friday and released Saturday after posting $10,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27 in Dallas County District Court.
