Colton Jennings Siglin, 26, of Perry was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-degree arson in connection with a house fire Wednesday at 308 Lucinda St.

A Perry man was arrested Wednesday on an arson charge in connection with a fire earlier in the day in west Perry at the home of Perry Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Hinds.

Colton Jennings Siglin, 26, a resident of the Hinds house at 308 Lucinda St., was arrested by the Perry Police Department on a charge of second-degree arson in the incident, according to a spokesperson from the Perry Police Department.

No additional information was available, the police department spokesperson said, because all department supervisors will be off duty for several days.

Hinds said he had no comment on the incident.

There were no injuries in the fire. The cause of the blaze and the circumstances leading to the arrest of Siglin are unknown at this hour.

Siglin was booked into the Dallas County Jail about 5 p.m. and is being held on $10,000 bond. Second-degree arson is a Class C felony in Iowa and carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a potential fine of up to $10,000.

Colton Jennings Siglin of Perry was arrested Nov. 19, 2016, after allegedly shooting someone with a .22 firearm.

Siglin was arrested one year ago in Perry on charges of first-degree burglary, willful injury and going armed with intent after allegedly forcing open the front door of a house at 335 Lucinda St. and shooting a 23-year-old man inside the house. His trial on the 2016 charges is scheduled for Dec. 11.

The Perry Police Department, Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS responded to the Wednesday incident. An Alliant Energy crewperson was also on scene.
