Donald LeRoy McChesney II, 40, of Perry was taken into custody by the Perry Police Department about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.

A Perry man was arrested by the Perry Police Department shortly after midnight Wednesday after he allegedly pointed a gun at his mother.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Donald LeRoy McChesney II, 40, of 1648 84th St., Clive, was charged with domestic abuse assault with intent or displays a weapon and intimidation-assault with a dangerous weapon-injure/provoke fear/anger.

The incident occurred in the 800 block of 18th Street about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, when officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of “a man holding a gun to a female,” according to court records.

Arriving officers found McChesney on 18th Street, “standing in the road with his hands up.” He “appeared to have something in his hands” that he “eventually dropped” on the ground and that later proved to be “a single-shot shotgun,” according to court records.

The female victim, McChesney’s mother, told officers McChesney “pointed the gun at her face, pointed the gun back at the ground and then pointed the gun back at her head,” according to court records.

The victim told officers “that she was ‘in fear for her life’ and thought he was going to shoot and kill her.”

McChesney is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
