Two male runaways from the Woodward Academy were taken into custody about 10:15 a.m. Sunday and returned to the campus on the grounds of the Woodward Resource Center, according to the Woodward Police Department.
No information was available on the whereabouts of the males when located. They were reported missing about about 12:30 a.m. Sunday and were seen about 6 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Iowa Highway 141, according to radio traffic.
Why were they returned to the Academy? I believe in second chances, but aren’t those kids out there because they have already had multiple chances? Why not directly to jail? This is getting ridiculous. Someone is not doing their job out there! Where’s the accountability? Is the Academy prepared to answer the family of one of these delinquents when they run away, break into someone’s house and gets shot? At the rate it’s going, it’s not a matter of “if” but a matter of “when.” DO YOUR JOB, WOODWARD ACADEMY!
