A woman spent a week on the floor after falling in a house two miles south of Dallas Center (not the house shown here). She was found alive Sunday night.

A statement released Tuesday by the office of the Dallas County Sheriff said the woman who fell in her house south of Dallas Center “spent a minimum of five days alone and unable to get up.”

Deputy sheriffs discovered the 62-year-old woman on New Year’s Day when they conducted a welfare check requested by “family members,” who said they had not heard from her “for several days, and they were concerned for her welfare.”

No one answered the door when deputies knocked, the sheriff’s statement said, but they “could hear dogs and music coming from the residence.”

Finding “that the back door was wide open,” the deputies entered the house and found the victim “incapacitated,” the statement said.

The woman “reported that she fell and hurt herself.” She was transported to Mercy Medical Center-West Lakes by Dallas County EMS.

No foul play was suspected in the incident, according to law enforcement.
