UPDATE: Yale woman identified as driver in Sunday accident

Misti M. Mast, 25, of Yale was identified by the Iowa State Patrol Tuesday afternoon as the driver of the Dodge minivan that struck and seriously injured Curtis Moorhead of Perry Sunday night.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Leffler provided the minimal crash report from the Iowa State Patrol’s District 4 offices in Denison. The incident remains under investigation.

A Perry man was critically injured  when he was struck by a passing motorist as he was putting gasoline in his vehicle.

Moorhead was adding fuel to his Jeep Woody after it ran out of gas on 160th Road near Wink Avenue west of Yale when he was struck by Mast’s vehicle. The incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Guthrie County Chief Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Bennett.

The Iowa State Patrol, Guthrie County Sheriff’s office and Guthrie County EMS responded to the scene. Moorhead was transported by air ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he remains under intensive care.

One adult and three children were passengers in Moorhead’s vehicle at the time of the accident, according to Bennett. There were no other injuries.

No other information has been released about the circumstances of the accident.
