The new headquarters of the Woodward Police Department was open for inspection Sunday afternoon, and a steady stream of visitors enjoyed coffee and doughnuts at the open house, chatting with Woodward Police Chief Shane Buck and Officer Joe Cox.
Construction of the new 30′ X 50′ facility proceeded quickly once the Woodward City Council sold the old police station property — the 10,877-square-foot triangular lot at 108 E. First St. — in September for $31,250 to Kirby Services LLC.
The old station — a 3,780-square-foot building, built in 1950 and originally serving as the city’s water department and city hall — was purchased by Woodward City Council member Kelly Kirts, owner of Kirby Services LLC and Dick’s Fire Extinguisher Service Inc.
The Woodward Police Department thanked a number of contractors, city employees and volunteer laborers for their time and energy spent on the project, including:
- Mafco Builders of Woodward for the building and its concrete and interior steel
- Blaser Electric of Woodward for the electrical wiring
- Jim Gough, Joe Cox, Todd Folkerts and Shane Buck for framing
- Chris Newland for plumbing
- Jim Gough, Joe Cox, Todd Folkerts, Shane Buck, Austin Manders, James Gough and Chris Sprott for drywall
- Mary Bustad, Justin Lantz, Missy Lantz, Jim Gough and James Gough for painting
- Rick Sloss for carpeting
- Austin Manders for trim and doors
- Austin Manders and Doug Morgan for insulation
