W-G girls host Perry, Panorama, others for 18 holes Thursday

WOODWARD — A round that started wet and cold finished in sunshine and warmer temperatures Thursday as Woodward-Granger hosted six other teams for the annual Hawk Girls Invitational at the Woodward Golf Course.

ADM topped Ballard, 428-435, for top team honors. Ogden won a tiebreaker with AC/GC for third place after both teams shot 445, with W-G carding a 448, Panorama a 454 and Perry a 491.

All teams save W-G had better combined scores among their four scorers on their second nine holes as compared to their first nine as the conditions improved. Perry was a whopping 27 strokes better on their second trip around the course, with Ogden 13 strokes better while Panorama shaved 10 shots, Ballard nine, ADM eight and AC/GC seven. The hosts took an additional 16 swings on their “back” nine.

W-G senior Cierra DeHoet ran away with overall medalist honors after recording a 44-46–90. Panorama’s Alex Kurtz was second with a 49-50–99, with Perry’s Delaney Eiteman winning a three-way tie for third place with her 54-46–100. Ballard’s Lauren Smith (52-48–100) was fourth and Panorama’s Abby Cobb (51-49–100) fifth.

In addition to DeHoet, W-G received scoring cards from Emily Trewet (57-54–111), Emma Greiner (56-65–121) and Izzy Meier (59-67–126). Also playing for W-G were Quinn Kaufman (64-70–134) and Megan Burkhart (73-69–142).

Eiteman bounced back from a first nine 54 to shoot 46 on her second trip to finish at 100. Freshman Bryce Eastman lopped off 10 strokes with a 67-57–124, with MaryLou Ledesma shooting 69-64–133 and Macy Kilmer 69-65–134. Ainsley Marburger (70-65–135) and Jayna Kenney (74-69–143) were in action as well for the Jayettes.

The top-five finishes for Kurtz and Cobb led Panorama, with Amanda Holwegner (63-59–122) and Taylor Raibikis (69-64–133) also scoring. The Panthers also had Hailey Meacham (67-67–134) and Sarah Kastner (69-69–138) make the circuit.

ADM received scoring cards from Liv Rickert (54-48–102), Anna West (51-55–106), Monica Thomas (53-54–107) and Adi Atkins (60-53–113), while Ballard had Smith (100), Emma Kielsmeier (56-52–108), Maya Baker (54-59–113) and Cassidy Thompson (60-54–114) scoring. Emma Mellencamp (59-67–126) and Mikayla Kelin (70-63–133) also played for ADM, with Megan Hadaway (62-54–116) and Annika Catus (67-63–130) in action for Ballard.

Faith Mohr (53-52–105), Libby Stonehacker (59-51–110), Shaylie Johannsen (59-57–114) and Emalee Walker (60-56–116) had the four low rounds for Ogden, with Emma Blair (68-60–128) and Sammy Anderson (78-79–157) playing for the Bulldogs as well.

AC/GC received their scores from Kena Baier (55-49–104), Alyssa Byers (53-56–109), Jessica Stringer (55-56–111) and Morgan Lemke (63-558–121), with the 64-67–131 shot by Anna Klingenberg not used for the Charger team total.

Also playing in the tourney was Madrid’s Sophia Harshbarger, who carded a 62-59–121.
