W-G golfers host AC/GC, Ogden to open new season

WOODWARD — A total of 32 happy golfers were able to play nine competitive holes at the Woodward Golf Course Monday as AC/GC and Ogden visiting W-G for a coed triangular.

Ogden won the boys meet with a 168, with AC/GC shooting 208 and W-G 214 while Ogden was able to nip W-G, 241-243, on the girls side. AC/GC had only two girls playing and so could not generate a team score.

Sophomores Coby Peters and Trey Lettow led the W-G boys with rounds of 48 and 54. Senior Hunter Pifer and junior Brandon Worley each had scoring rounds of 56, with cards of 57 and 68, respectively, from sophomore August Thielen and junior Nick Buch not used for the team total.

Ogden’s Jake Kathman and Kayden Kruse each had rounds of 41 for the top medalist honors, with Ryan Nichols shooting a 42 and Cooper Carson a 44. The Bulldogs did not used rounds of 47 from Mason Will and of 55 from Carson Hayes.

AC/GC received scoring rounds from Gunnar Larson (48), Spencer Grove (49), McKlain Jorgensen (53) and Nolan Wheatley (59). Cael Hoing (63) and Eli Kading (65) were also in action for the Chargers.

Senior Cierra DeHoet’s medalist winning card of 49 led the Hawk girls. The hosts also scored stroke totals of 61 from sophomore Emil Trewet, of 65 from senior Megan Burkhart and of 68 from Emma Greiner. Juniors Natalie Helbling (71) and Izzy Meier (78) were also on the course for the home team.

Shaylie Johannsen’s 52 led Ogden, with Emalee Walker firing a 62, Emma Blair a 63 and Faith Mohr a 64. Libby Stonehocker had a 67 and Kaylee Delp a 75, but neither score was used for the team total.

Kena Baier recorded a runner-up medalist 50 for AC/GC, with Jessica Stringer finishing at 76.

Woodward-Granger will return to action Monday with a visit from Earlham and Pleasantville for continued WCAC action.
