W-G netters drop match to host Ames

AMES, IA — Woodward-Granger volleyball stepped out of conference and up a several classes Thursday with a trip to Ames.

The Little Cylcones (6-5) won the first game, 25-16, but the Hawks (4-12) won game two, 25-22. The hosts were not intimidated and rallied to win games three and four, 25-15 and 25-14, respectively, to record the win.

Anna Weaver had 19 assists, Audrey Simmons two, and Lindsay Mescher one. Simmons led the team with eight kills, Emma Klocke adding seven. Mescher and Weaver had three kills apiece, Grace Deputy and Cadence Klocke two kills each and Cela Hill one.

Bella McDivitt turned in 15 digs, Weaver 13 and Simmons 12, with Mescher having eight kills and Emma Klocke six. Hill had four digs, Jocelyn Bowlsby two and both Cadence Klocke and Deputy one each.

Deputy and Emma Klocke both had a block at the net, with Cadence Klocke and Simmons each awarded an assisted block.

W-G finished 61-of-68 (90 percent) serving with nine total aces.

McDivitt was 10-12-3, Emma Klocke 11-14-2, Weaver 10-11-1 and Simmons 14-15-1, with Deputy 6-6-2 and Mescher 10-of-10.

W-G is off until Thursday when they will host Panorama and Pleasantville for a triangular that will not be counted toward WCC standings.
