W-G netters struggle against larger schools

ADEL, IA — Woodward-Granger competed Thursday in the ADM Invite, dropping all five of their shortened matches. The format used called for best 2-of-3 games, played to 21 points in the first two of a match and to 15 if a tiebreaker were needed.

W-G fell in two games in all five of their matches. The Hawks were the victims of Atlantic (21-18, 21-14), Gilbert (21-18, 21-19), ADM (21-12, 21-13), Norwalk (21-10, 21-14) and Nevada (21-3, 22-20).

Individual statistics are complied from all four matches save Gilbert, which were not available.

Anna Weaver’s 13 assists led the Hawks, with Audrey Simmons adding five and Bella McDivitt four, with Cela Hill, Cadence Klocke, Grace Deputy, Lindsay Mescher, and Maddie Rogers having one apiece.

Deputy and Simmons each had seven kills and Mescher four, with Cadence and Emma Klocke tallying three apiece and McDivitt two. Hill, Weaver and McKenna Carroll also had kills.

McDivitt led W-G with 23 digs, with Mescher recording 21. Weaver and Simmons had 11 digs apiece, Hill and Deputy four each, Jocelyn Bowlsby two, the Klocke sister one each and Carroll and Rogers one each as well.

Weaver finished 27-of-28 serving with five aces, with Mescher 16-16-2 and Deputy 10-12-1. McDivitt was 7-10-1, Simmons 8-of-10, Hill 6-of-6 and Bowlsby 2-of-2.

W-G will visit Ogden Tuesday and travel to Pella Christian Thursday.
