Waukee man arrested for allegedly biting, strangling girlfriend

Edward Reese Miller, 36, of Waukee was arrested Monday on a charge of domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury.

A Waukee man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Monday in connection with an Aug. 7 incident in which he allegedly bit and strangled his girlfriend in the course of a domestic dispute.

Edward Reese Miller, 36, of 25 Winfield Parkway, Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury.

The incident began about 1:45 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 20 block of Winfield Parkway, where officers of the Waukee Police Department

The victim told the officers that a verbal dispute escalated to a physical assault, involving “pushing and shoving and that she hit her head multiple times but was unsure on what,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that Miller allegedly “strangled her” by “pushing her down by her neck” on a mattress, according to court records. She told the officers that “she bit” Miller in an effort “to try to get him to release her,” but “it did not work.”

In return, Miller allegedly “bit her finger” and said “something along the lines of ‘How does that feel?'” according to court records.

The victim told the officers “that she was hit many times in the face” and “back of the head” and was “hit in the back,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “a laceration on her finger that was previously bleeding from the bite” as well as “a mark on her back where she was hit, swelling and bruising on her face/eye and marks/scratches on the victim’s neck associated with the strangulation,” according to court records.

Miller fled the scene on a bicycle before the arrival of law enforcement.

A warrant for Miller’s arrest was ordered Aug. 8 in Dallas County District Court and served Aug. 15. Miller is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Miller was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2021 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
