A Waukee man was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly strangling his wife.
Dhiraj Maheshkumar Berodia, 41, of 2336 S.E. Taylor Court, Waukee, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood.
The incident began about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of S.E. Taylor Court in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department and Clive Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.
The caller, who “was heard screaming over the phone,” said that “her husband had become violent” and “will kill her before police arrive,” according to court records.
The responding officers made contact with Berodia and the victim.
Berodia admitted “that he had placed his hands around” the victim’s “neck and attempted to strangle her,” according to court records.
The victim confirmed Berodia’s admission, according to court records, and officers observed that the victim “had red marks around her neck, indicating someone had forcefully put their hands around her neck.”
Berodia is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
