WAUKEE — A second candidate entered the primary race for the Republican nomination for Dallas County auditor Sunday when Waukee resident Cate Bryan announced her bid for the office.

Three-term Dallas County Auditor Gene Krumm announced last week he will not seek a return to office in the November general election. Dallas County Precinct Election Coordinator Julia Helm launched her bid for the Republican nomination following Krumm’s announcement.

She has spent the last three years in in the position of constituent services director for the U.S. Senate. Prior to taking her present position in the public sphere, Bryan worked for seven years in the financial services industry in areas ranging from development and compliance to government relations.

“In the fastest growing county in the state,” Bryan said in a statement to the press, “the Dallas County Auditor has the opportunity to create an innovative culture that embraces technology, provides efficiency and prioritizes a constituent-first approach for service. With my strong education, unique experience and fresh perspective, I have been able to build departments and offices from the ground up in both the private and public sector that produced positive results. I look forward to knocking on doors and listening to the concerns of the voters across the county.”

Bryan has garnered an endorsement from Iowa Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, who said Bryan’s “experience in the financial sector and her willingness to embrace technology and innovation will provide the citizens of Dallas County with an up-to-date, efficient and accessible Dallas County Auditor’s office. Cate’s work ethic, background and passion to serve are assets that will serve the people of Dallas County well. As a former county official, I am proud to support Cate for Dallas County auditor.”

Bryan’s political experiences includes volunteer work as executive secretary on the Dallas County Republican Central Committee.

“In working with Cate these past few years, I know that she is a hard-working, detail oriented, and dedicated woman,” said former Dallas County Republican Central Committee Chair Dr. Christi Taylor. “Cate had a passion for doing a job well and efficiently and provides amazing customer service. With all of these valuable skills, and her energetic personality, Cate is the best person for the job ahead.”
