Gregory Michael Vickroy, 40, of West Des Moines was arrested on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A West Des Moines man was arrested Saturday on a Dallas County warrant for assault for allegedly “punching and stomping on” a woman.

Gregory Michael Vickroy, 40, of 9584 Alderwood Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began Nov. 2 about 5:30 p.m. in the 9400 block of Alderwood Drive in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department made contact with the victim, who said Vickroy allegedly “did assault her by punching and stomping on” her, according to court records.

The victim said Vickroy “punched her and pulled her out of a vehicle and forced” her into “the back seat,” where he allegedly “punched her approximately a dozen times with both fists” and then “pulled the victim back out of the vehicle by her hair and hit her again,” according to court records.

The officers observed on the victim “a cut on her face and bruising and swelling,” and she was transported to Methodists West Hospital for her injuries.

Vickroy is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 25 in Dallas County District Court.

  1. Third offence OWI? If the pre-sentence investigation does not explore this newest charge and see it as just a continuation of an out-of-control individual who needs a “time out” in one of our finer state “vacation” spots, like the Fort Dodge prison lovingly called “Gladiator School” by its attendees, then our justice system has issues.
