A West Des Moines man was arrested Saturday on a Dallas County warrant for assault for allegedly “punching and stomping on” a woman.
Gregory Michael Vickroy, 40, of 9584 Alderwood Dr., West Des Moines, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began Nov. 2 about 5:30 p.m. in the 9400 block of Alderwood Drive in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department made contact with the victim, who said Vickroy allegedly “did assault her by punching and stomping on” her, according to court records.
The victim said Vickroy “punched her and pulled her out of a vehicle and forced” her into “the back seat,” where he allegedly “punched her approximately a dozen times with both fists” and then “pulled the victim back out of the vehicle by her hair and hit her again,” according to court records.
The officers observed on the victim “a cut on her face and bruising and swelling,” and she was transported to Methodists West Hospital for her injuries.
Vickroy is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 25 in Dallas County District Court.
Vickroy was arrested Aug. 24 on a charge of first-offense OWI. The case is pending in Warren County District Court. He was arrested Sept. 16 on charges of first-offense OWI, two counts of interference with official acts and driving while license denied or revoked. The case is pending in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted Sept. 22 of disorderly conduct in Polk County District Court. He was arrested Nov. 11 on charges of third-offense OWI, eluding and interference with official acts. The case is pending in Polk County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Third offence OWI? If the pre-sentence investigation does not explore this newest charge and see it as just a continuation of an out-of-control individual who needs a “time out” in one of our finer state “vacation” spots, like the Fort Dodge prison lovingly called “Gladiator School” by its attendees, then our justice system has issues.
