Wind advisory to blow in winter storm system Thursday

Light rain, snow and a wintry mix are forecast to begin Wednesday night and continue through Friday for the Perry area, and a wind advisory has been issued for Thursday from 3 am. to 6 p.m. by the National Weather Service (NWS).

The winter storm system will affect the area Thursday and Friday, including accumulating snow, strong wind gusts and hazards travel conditions, with northwest winds at 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph expected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, the NWS warned. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Along with Dallas County, the wind advisory and winter weather will affect Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Audubon, Guthrie, Cass, Adair, Madison, Adams, Union, Clarke, Taylor, Ringgold and Decatur counties.

Along with Perry, the wind advisory and winter weather will affect the the cities of Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Corning, Creston, Osceola, Bedford, Lenox, New Market, Mount Ayr, Lamoni and Leon.
