Wind chill advisory Saturday; hellish cold through next week

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Johnston has issued a wind chill advisory for the Perry area from noon to midnight Saturday, with wind chills to minus 25 degrees, and a wind chill watch from Saturday evening to Monday morning, with dangerously cold
wind chills of minus 30 to minus 40 degrees.

Dangerously cold temperatures will continue Friday night into Saturday morning and will  further intensify from Saturday night into early next week, the NWS said.

The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat and gloves.

Along with Dallas County, the wind chill advisory and wind chill watch are in effect in Webster, Hamilton, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Audubon, Guthrie, Cass and Adair counties.

Along with Perry, the wind chill advisory and wind chill watch are in effect for the cities of Fort Dodge, Webster City, Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Ames, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair and Fontanelle.
