Woman arrested for alleged $20,000 employee theft

Amy Rose Wood, 22, of Des Moines was charged with first-degree theft in connection with an alleged employee theft of nearly $20,000 in merchandise and in-store credit from Torrid, a women's clothing store at Jordan Creek in West Des Moines.

A Des Moines woman was arrested Tuesday after her employer reported the alleged theft of almost $20,000 in merchandise and store credit from a Jordan Creek boutique.

Amy Rose Wood, 22, of 2806 Brattleboro Ave., Des Moines, was charged with first-degree theft in connection with alleged incidents occurring at Torrid, a women’s clothing store at at 6925 Mills Civic Parkway, #140, in West Des Moines.

According to court records, managers at the store claimed “they had an employee falsely apply in-store credit to her own account without permission to do so as well as stole store merchandise.”

The store claimed a loss totaling $19,642 and said that “the thefts have been occurring since December 2018.”

Wood is held at the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for arraignment Nov. 15 in Dallas County District Court.

Wood was convicted of fourth-degree theft in January 2019 in Polk County District Court.
