Woman arrested in rest-area shooting Wednesday

Mariana T. Lesnic, 43, of unknown address faces first-degree murder charges in connection with a gunshot death at the westbound rest area of U.S. Interstate 80 near Victor. According to a statement from the Iowa County Sheriff, "a male was found deceased in his tractor trailer semi from apparent gunshot wounds."

VICTOR, Iowa — The Iowa County Sheriff’s office received a report shortly after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday of a shooting at the westbound rest area of U.S. Interstate 80 near Victor.

According to a statement from the Iowa County Sheriff, when law enforcement arrived on the scene, “a male was found deceased in his tractor trailer semi from apparent gunshot wounds.”

Mariana T. Lesnic, 43, of unknown address, was taken into custody in connection with the incident and charged with first-degree murder.

Lesnic is being held in the Iowa County Jail on $1 million bond.

The identity of the victim “is being withheld pending notification of kin,” the sheriff’s statement said.

The Iowa County Sheriff’s office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the death.

  1. It is jan 2022 and I just found this info on marina lesnic. I lived with her as a boyfriend for years and nobody contacted me. If marina shot this man then it was either she was in danger or her son was in danger. I think the later! If there is a murder investigation would you not ask someone that had a relationship with her for years after her marriage! Nobody knows this woman like I do,and there is somthing not right about this. Please have the psychiatrist contact me so I can fill in some blanks. THIS WOMAN IS NOT A BLOOD THIRSTY KILLER! I know her body language and speech better than anybody. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT!
