Woodward-Granger wrestlers finish 3-0 at Boone quadrangular

BOONE — The Woodward-Granger wrestling squad overcame the absence of three starters to knock off all three of their opponents at a Tuesday quadrangular.

W-G topped Perry, 54-30, before claiming wins of 43-39 against Boone and ADM. In other action, Perry topped ADM, 39-31, and Boone, 46-46, with Boone a 37-33 victor against ADM.

The Hawks were forced to forfeit at 126 pounds and were without Cody Fisher (35-5) at 195 and Alex Kirton (19-19) at heavyweight.

Class 2A No. 2 Tanner Vermaas stepped up to 195 to score a pin over Juan Campos (PRY) in 1 minute, 12 seconds and won by medical default (time) over Franklin Stanfield of Boone before receiving a forfeit at his normal weight of 182 against ADM.

Aaron Sperling returned to action at 170 pounds. He wrestled at 182 to pin Perry’s Cesar Ramirez in 38 seconds, received a forfeit at 170 from Boone and pinned ADM’s Leo Tauke in 4:47 at 170.

Cale Pritchett was 3-0 at 160 with a pin of Cole Snyder (PRY) in 3:46 and of Anthony Keller (BNE) in 3:50 before receiving a forfeit from ADM.

Hunter Pierce (106 pounds), Dilynn Lewiston (113), Gabriel Yingst (145), Austin Scharlau (152) and Dillon Fogarty (285) were all 2-1, with each winning once by pin and once by forfeit.

Jayden Ingerson was 1-1 with a pin of Mason Murphy (BNE) at 182, with Tate Lettow (120), Cole Carman (138), and Tyler Lawernson (220) all winning once by forfeit to account for the W-G victory list.

W-G will return to action Saturday at the AC/GC Invitational in Guthrie Center.
