A Woodward man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly assaulting his step-father by punching him in the face.

Joshua Allen Springer, 35, of 14082 T Ave., Woodward, was charged with assault causing bodily injury.

The incident began about 5 p.m. Sunday in the 14800 block of T Avenue in rural Woodward, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a family disturbance.

A witness told the deputies that Springer allegedly “punched his step-father about three times,” according to court records.

Spring “admitted to getting into an altercation with the victim” but “denied punching the victim,” according to court records. He said that “they did shove each other and that he almost put the victim in a choke hold.”

The deputies observed on the victim “injuries to his face and an open cut on his chin,” according to court records.

The victim told the deputies that Springer allegedly “pushed him up against a truck” and “struck him with his forearm,” according to court records.

Springer is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

Springer was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2012 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in 2015 in Warren County District Court.
