Ronald Leroy "Rocky" Delp Jr., 61, of Woodward was arrested Sunday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault.

A Woodward man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly shaking his wife in the course of a “heated verbal argument,” according to a law enforcement report of the incident.

Ronald Leroy “Rocky” Delp Jr., 61, of 701 Cedar Ave., Woodward, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, when law enforcement officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at Delp’s Cedar Avenue residence.

According to court records, the victim claimed “she had been woken up in bed” by Delp, who “instigated the argument with her.”

The victim said Delp “held her down in their bed before eventually letting her up” and that she was then “grabbed by the arms and shaken.”

According to court records, Delp “admitted that he had grabbed his wife by the biceps as they were facing each other and shook her repeatedly.”

Officrs on scene determined that Delp “had been drinking but was cooperative,” and he was transported to the Dallas County Jail without further incident.

Delp was released from the Dallas County Jail on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear Feb. 13 in Dallas County District Court
