You might qualify for $30 in fresh produce from farmers market

There is still time for low-income seniors in Dallas County to register to get a free $30 check to use this summer at a local farmers market in the 2020 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

The process for getting the $30 check is easy:

  • Register by calling the Dallas County Public Health Department 515-993-3750.
  • Pick up your free $30 check at one of the three drive-though sites listed below.

In order to qualify, you must be a resident of Dallas County at least 60 years old when you apply, and your income must be $23,606 or less if you are single or $31,84 if you are a married couple.

You must register in advance by calling 515-993-3750, and then you or your designated proxy must attend in person and sign for the check at one of the following three drive-though check-collection events:

    1. Perry: Tuesday, June 16, 12-3 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2715 Iowa St.
    2. Adel: Thursday, June 18, 12-3 p.m. at the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, 801 Nile Kinnick Dr.
    3. Waukee: Tuesday, June 23, 12-3 p.m. at the Westview Church, 1155 S.E. Boone Dr.

Only one spouse of a married couple need attend the check pick-up event. If you cannot attend any of the three drive-though options, then call the Dallas County Public Health Department and schedule a time to come to the office and pick up your check.
