July 17, 2017

  • Deputy Benjamin conducted a traffic stop on First Street near a retail store in Ogden. After a short investigation, Jacob Melton, 18, of Boone, was arrested for possession of drugs and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

July 18, 2017

  • Deputy King responded to the area of County Road E57 and the Des Moines river for a vehicle that struck a deer.
  • Deputy Spencer responded to a complaint of theft at a residence in the 100 block of W. Sycamore Street in Ogden.
  • Deputy Ruter responded to the 600 block of Xenia Place for a report of a burglar alarm. Deputy Ruter checked the property for signs of burglary.
  • Deputy Ruter responded to the 1900 block of 195th Street for a complaint of fraud with a credit card. This case remains under investigation.
  • Deputy Spencer responded to the 300 block of E. Elm Street in Ogden for a complaint of a juvenile shooting a BB gun. Deputy Spencer located the juvenile and talked with a guardian/parent.
  • David Anderson of Fort Dodge was taken into custody in Story County on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation on an original charge of operation without owner’s consent.
  • Deputy Sunstrom conducted a traffic stop in the area of G Avenue and U.S. Highway 30. Edward Laird, 49, of Des Moines was arrested for driving under suspension.
  • Deputy Fangman responded to the 400 block of S.E. Second Street in Ogden for a medical assist.

July 19, 2017

  • Deputy King responded to Camp Mitigwa for a medical assist.
  • Deputy Pontius responded to a business in the 200 block of Pilot Street in Pilot Mound for a report of theft of lottery tickets. This investigation continues.
  • Deputy Spencer responded to the 1800 block of Sage Avenue for a report of theft. This investigation continues.
  • Gregory Keeley, 43, of Fort Dodge was arrested by the Webster County Sheriff’s office on a Boone County warrant for failure to book/provide fingerprints.
  • Deputy Sunstrom responded to the Boone Waterworks boat ramp for a report of theft of property from a vehicle.
  • Deputy Twigg responded to the Boxholm School for juveniles that were on the building.
  • Deputy Twigg, Deputy Sunstrom, Deputy Quinn and the Madrid Police Department responded to a vehicle that struck a deer on Iowa Highway 210 east of Madrid. While on 911, the driver reported a motorcycle drove past and struck the deer again. The motorcyclist crashed and was treated for injuries.

July 20, 2017

  • Mackenzie Williamson, 28, of Des Moines was arrested in Mitchellville on a Boone County warrant for contempt of court for failure to serve jail time in an original charge of violation of no-contact order.
  • Deputy Spencer and Deputy Sunstrom responded to the M Avenue (Iowa Highway 30) boat ramp for a complaint of theft. This investigation continues.
  • Deputy Twigg, Deputy Spencer, Deputy Ruter and Deputy Benjamin responded to a multi-vehicle accident with injuries in the area of Iowa Highway 17 and U.S. Highway 30. One of the vehicles caught fire. The Boone Fire Department also responded. Several injuries were reported.
  • Deputy Ruter responded to the 100 block of W. Sycamore STreet in Ogden for a medical assist.
  • Deputy Ruter responded to the 300 block of S.E. Fourth Street in Ogden for a report of a stray dog.

July 21, 2017

  • Deputy Pontius, Deputy Godzicki, Chief Deputy Hoffman and Sheriff Elsberry conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Carlson Street in Pilot Mound in order to recover stolen property. Sherene Kemp was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. This investigation continues and other charges are pending.
  • Sergeant Wingate conducted a K9 search at the Curt Forbes Center halfway house in Ames.
  • The Boone County Sheriff’s office was notified by the Greene County Sheriff’s office about a male involved in a domestic violence act and traveling to Ogden. Deputy Twigg intercepted Melvin Hitsman, 53, of Ogden in the 200 block of N.W. Seventh Street. After a short investigation, Hitsman was arrested for OWI and transported to the Boone County Jail. Further charges in Greene County are pending.
  • Deputy Twigg responded to the 400 block of E. Sycamore Street in Ogden for a report of suspicious activity.
  • Deputy Twigg responded to the Ogden High School for a fire alarm. This was a false alarm due to weather issues.
  • Deputy Benjamin conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of 270th Street. Deputy Quinn assisted. After a short investigation, Sara McGrath, 20, of Amana was cited for Administration OWI .02 violation.
  • Deputy Twigg assisted the Story County Sheriff’s office with a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 30 and W Avenue. The driver was arrested by the Story County Sheriff’s office for OWI.

July 22, 2017

  • The Story County Sheriff’s Office request assistance from the Boone County Sheriff’s office with a burglar alarm in the 500 block of Goldleaf Road. Deputy Quinn assisted.
