Like shy dryads among the prairie green, the Friends of the Perry Public Library volunteers, from left, Sue Brickner, Shirley Ehlers, Sue Kimpston, Margaret Harden and Cathy Clark, all of Perry, set out in ranks and files the plants to be sold Thursday and Friday in the annual plant sale. The few unsold were carried away Saturday afternoon.

The Friends of the Perry Library plant sale wrapped up Saturday afternoon, with customers carrying away a variety of bedding and green plants.

All proceeds from the sale and plants and baked goods directly benefit library programs and services.

With help from half-a-dozen strapping young lads from the Woodward Academy and as many again from among the volunteers, the trailers of Gary Beck and Joe Warnock were soon loaded with the few green leftovers and hauled away.

Signups continue for the library’s Summer Reading Program, which is funded in part by proceeds from the plant sales.

Many hands make light work at the end of the Friends of the Library plant sale Saturday, where half-a-dozen lads from the Woodward Academy assisted in the hauling.
