WINTERSET — Ally Pickering’s solo home run in the bottom of the third inning did all the damage Winterset needed to knock off Perry in their Raccoon River Conference tussle Wednesday.

The Huskies added three runs to the bottom of the fifth for good measure, and Sophie Stover yielded only a Maddie West single as the hosts continued their mastery over Perry. Stover struck out six and issued two walks in collecting the victory.

“We have work to do offensively,” Perry head coach Tina Kenney admitted. “The defense got out of a bases-loaded no-out jam with out them scoring, but then we just gave then extra outs in the fifth.”

The Perry errors led to all three runs in the frame being unearned. Emma Olejniczak went six innings in the ring, allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out five.

Perry hosts Norwalk Friday and ADM Tuesday before trips to Carroll Wednesday and to Boone June 1. They will host their annual tourney June 3.
