Youngsters from T-ball through 12U gathered Wednesday at the PAC for Youth Softball Night as Perry hosted Carroll in a Raccoon River Conference contest.
The girls were able to watch as ace Emma Olejniczak struck out 12 Tiger batters in tossing a no-hitter as Perry won, 10-0 in six innings. The varsity game was played first, as initial weather reports had hinted at the threat of thunderstorms.
After the game, players and coaches were introduced. Escorted by a varsity Jayettes, players were able to run through the Perry dugout, then out onto the diamond through a tunnel of high fives created by the junior varsity Jayettes.
Players were awarded season medals, and then given a real treat, as the Perry varsity players shared a few moments with the girls and signed team posters for the future Jayette stars.
