April 10, 2017

  • While conducting business door checks, an officer located an open door at 408 Highway 30 East.
  • A caller reported loud music coming from a trailer at 701 N. Cedar St. An officer made contact with the occupants of the trailer, and the music was turned down.
  • An officer located an open business door in the 100 block of E. State Street.
  • Michael Heard spoke with an officer regarding a civil property exchange at 601 S. Chestnut St. The officer advised Heard he would need a court order to remove belongings property because a protective order is still in effect.
  • A realtor requested an officer in the 400 block of W. Lincoln Way for a possible burglary. The realtor learned that family members removed items from the residence before the officer’s arrival and no crime had occurred.
  • The Greene County Middle School reported that a student left the school at about 10:30 a.m. and told his parents he found a threatening note in his locker. The note warned that someone was coming to the school tomorrow and an act of violence would occur. The school reviewed video and saw that no one had entered the student’s locker to place the note inside as reported by the student. The boy told an officer a girl actually handed him the note, not placed it in his locker as reported. The officer spoke to the girl and learned the boy requested her to write the note, and she did so not knowing what he was going to do with it. The officer determined no danger existed in the threats made in the note, and the school is handling the disciplinary consequences in this matter.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 200 block of W. Reed Street, resulting in Cynthia Deal of Jefferson being issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
  • Officers were requested at a local gaming concern by security staff when a substance suspected to be narcotics was located. After reviewing video surveillance showing the item dropping from the coat of a male player, an officer made contact with the man, leading to the arrest of Christopher John Clifton, 56, of Perry for possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine-third or subsequent offense.

April 11, 2017

  • While checking business doors, an officer located an open door at 600 E. Lincoln Way.
  • An officer assisted a mother with her juvenile son who did not wish to go to school. The officer spoke to the youth and returned him to the Greene County Elementary School.
  • Joyce Morris reported doors being open at a property in the 1000 block of E. Russell Street. An officer checked with the property owner, who advised he left the doors open.
  • Dottie Aldridge reported juveniles following her children as they walked home from school. She felt this was harassment. An officer made contact with both parties of children and did not find the behavior to be harassing.
  • An officer checked on a vehicle parked in the 600 block of W. Russell Street. The officer later learned the vehicle operator was mushroom hunting and was not having mechanical issues with the vehicle.
  • An officer assisted the occupant at 500 N. Chestnut Street with a malfunctioning smoke detector.
  • Cindy Rowland reported loud music in the 900 block of N. Pinet Street. The officer made contact with some youths at 902 N. Pinet St. and advised them to turn the music down for the evening.
  • Scott Havens reported a possible attempted burglary at 800 E. Lincoln Way. Havens noticed new markings on the door and believed someone attempted to gain access to the building.
