  • Belinda Lawson reported a tree service truck was blocking traffic in the 500 block of E. Wilcox Way. An officer found the vehicle to be legally parked and not blocking traffic.
  • School officials reported two males passing out candy to children near the Greene County Middle School at 203 W. Harrison St. Officers made contact with the group identifying itself as Gideon’s International members They were passing out Bibles on the public sidewalk.
  • Dottie Alrdridge reported a male juvenile was just asked to leave her property at 701 N. Cedar St. because he is not allowed to be there. She said he left when asked to do so.
  • Robby Beebe reported her juvenile son had some type of gun pointed at him after school by another student. An officer is investigating.
  • An officer arrested a 16-year-old male in the 100 block of W. Washington Street on a Jefferson Police Department arrest warrant. The juvenile was charged with third-degree criminal mischief-aggravated. The charge stems from the reported criminal mischief to a vehicle at 508 N. Locust St. April 7.
  • An anonymous caller said the residents at 712 S. Locust St. have chickens in their yard. An officer confirmed the report and advised the occupants that chickens are not allowed inside the city limits, according to a city ordinance. He gave them a short period of time to remove the birds from the city.
  • An Ames Police Department Detective requested assistance in locating a man in Jefferson with an outstanding Story County arrest warrant for, first-degree theft. Officers arrested John Wayne Berry, 26, of Jefferson, at 702 S. Wilson Ave.
  • A traffic stop was performed at 220th and Elm streets, resulting in Brandon Olson of Cedar Falls being issued a citation for dark windows.
  • A Greene County Deputy Sheriff requested assistance from a Jefferson Police Department Officer at 473 240th St. in Scranton. The deputy was investigating a domestic situation, and the deputy is handling any criminal charges.
