Madrid Police Report March 20-26

March 20, 2017

  • An officer spoke to an out-of-town resident regarding a civil issue involving a set of counterfeit golf clubs bought from a Madrid resident.
  • An officer took possession of a lost dog from several juveniles in town. The officer contacted the owner to pick up the dog.
  • An officer received a complaint about a male at the laundromat who was inside doing laundry earlier in the day and smelled heavily of alcohol.
  • An officer responded to a domestic situation in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street. After an investigation, Bobbi Barden of Madrid was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Barden was transported to the Boone County Jail.

March 21, 2017

  • An officer took a complaint of credit card fraud from a Madrid resident on E. North Street.
  • An officer responded to an emergency medical call in the 600 block of N. Kennedy Street.
  • An officer was called to the Tiger Bowl for an intoxicated male attempting to drive home. The officer made contact with the intoxicated person and arranged for an employee to take him home.
  • An officer was called about a possible intoxicated driver leaving the Tiger Bowl. The officer located the vehicle at Git’N’Go and made contact with a male subject outside the vehicle. The officer arrested Troy Brower of Madrid for second-offense public intoxication. Brower was transported to the Boone County Jail and held.

March 22, 2017

  • An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of W. Second Street for a verbal disagreement between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The officer spoke to both parties and found no criminal act was committed. The officer separated the parties in order to give the female time to get her belongings together.
  • An officer assisted the Iowa Department of Human Services with a case in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Street.
  • An officer spoke to staff members at the Madrid High School regarding a student not going to school.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a phone scam.
  • An officer followed up on several cases from the past week.
  • Officers reviewed an ongoing assault case from 2016 for possible charges.

March 23, 2017

  • An officer met with an investigator with the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals and shared information on a case from the Madrid Home.

March 24, 2017

  • An officer received a report of a dog running on Edgewood Street and Eighth Street.
  • An officer assisted Boone County Deputy Sheriffs with a suspicious-activity call near the Iowa Highway 210 bridge west of Madrid.
  • An officer responded to a medical call downtown.

March 25, 2017

  • An officer located a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Dollar General after hours. The officer identified the vehicle’s owner and determined it to be okay.
  • An officer took a report about a male sitting in a vehicle for more than two hours on Brodie Lane. The officer made contact with the male, and he checked out okay.

March 26, 2017

  • An officer responded to the trailer court on County Line Road for a loud-music complaint. The parties were advised, and the music was turned down.
  • An officer assisted with a medical emergency in the 100 block of W. Second Street.
  • An officer was dispatched to to a reported erratic driver headed south on Iowa Highway 17 from U.S. Highway 30. The vehicle never made it to town.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
