AUDUBON — The Panorama girls track team — despite missing four key athletes — placed second, and the Panther boys sixth, at the Wheeler Coed Relays Tuesday.

Treynor’s 124 points won the girls side, with Panorama second at 112 and AC/GC third at 99 in the 10-team field. Treynor (116), AC/GC (79) and Audubon (66) were the top three finishers on the boys side, with Panorama (55) sixth among 11 teams.

“The weather was far less than ideal; it was cold, windy and damp and it drizzled for most of the last half of the meet,” Panorama head coach Greg Thompson said. “The girls didn’t set a lot of new personal records (posting three), but most of them showed toughness.”

“We were missing four girls that would have scored enough points to put the team first in the team standings,” he added. “It is nice to have options with the lineup heading into the conference and state qualifying meets.”

Bailey Beckman was named by the coaches as Meet MVP for the girls. She won the long jump by exploding for 16 feet, 5-1/2 inches, a leap 11-1/4 inches farther than her previous best. Kassidy Bremer was third, landing at 15’10.

Lydia Knapp’s spin on 106’2 was second in the discus, with Kennedy Andersen sixth at 89 feet while Knapp cleared 4’8 for third place in the high jump.

Morgan Johnk’s 16.27 clocking won the 100 hurdles, wit Payton Douglass fourth in the 400 low hurdles in 1:14.86.

Devyn Kemble and Beckman were 1-3 in the 400 in 1:01.52 and 1:05.61, with Kemble second, in 2:37.71, in the 800. Carson Fisher was fourth (13.6) in the 100 and Bremer fourth (28.2) in the 200, with Vallerie Storesund placing fourth in the 3000 (13:10.07) while Emily Smith was sixth in the 1500 (5:59.2).

Fisher, Johnk, Beckman and Kemble were second in the 4×100 (54.82), Fisher, Bremer, Hope Arganbright and Maggie Woodvine third in the 4×200 (1:57.58) and Johnk, Bremer, Brianna Hoffman and Brooke Halterman fourth in the 4×400 (4:39.2).

Douglass, Beckman, Johnk and Kemble teamed for third in the sprint medley (1:56.88), with Arganbright, Halterman, Brooklyn Behrends and Kellie Prince placing fourth in the distance medley (4:54.74) while Woodvine, Abigail Brown and Lydia and Maddie Knapp fifth in the shuttle hurdle (1:17.02).

The Panorama boys set six new personal marks, with Meet MVP Dan Jensen recording two. He won the shot put at 44’1 and was second, at 128’3-1/2 in the discus, with teammate Matthew Webner second at 156 feet.

Spencer Hunt crossed in 54.3 to place second in the 200, with Brody Rickheim sixth, in 12.22, in the 100 while Danny Nordquist placed third in the 3200 in 11:03.77.

The quartet of Conner Meinecke, Blaine Barber, Luke South and Hunt were second in the sprint medley in 1:40.44 while Meinecke, Aaron Irving, Allias Stahl and Bryce Halterman clocked in at 1:42.04 for third place in the 4×200.

The remaining Panther points came in the 4×400, where South, Barber, Meinecke and Hunt teamed for fifth in 3:48.42.

“The boys competed well and should have been as high as third in the team standings, but the wet conditions caused some dropped batons and shaky exchanges,” Thompson said. “Once those things are cleaned up we could put up some good times in the relays.”

Panorama is off until Tuesday when they travel to Madrid for the West Central Conference meet. They will then host a coed invitational May 4.
