JEFFERSON — Both the 7th and 8th grade track teams from Perry Middle School competed at the Greene County Co-ed Relays Thursday.
The Bluejay grade 7 squad was second in the combined-grade boys team scoring with 123.5 points while the Perry boys grade 8 unit placed seventh with 97 points in the seven-school, 14-team field.
On the girls side of the meet the Jayette seventh graders were eighth with 77 points while the Perry grade 8 team scored 45 points.
Names were not provided for any Perry relay unit. Only first and second place results are noted; additional points were scored in several events, which can be seen in the meet results at the end of this report.
For the Bluejay seventh graders, Osca Toboneye won the 400 in 57.73 seconds and the 800 in 2 minutes, 24.23 seconds, with Ernest Seaton second in the 100 (13.2) and 200 (26.9) while Luis Guzman was second in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.
The Jays won the 4×400 (4:11.25) and 4×800 (10:38.4) and were second in both the 4×100 (55.76) and 1600 medley (4:38.06).
Justin Stammer won the boys grade 8 100 in 12.99 seconds, with Jonathan Flores claiming the 200 in 25.82 ticks while Kaleb Olejniczak crossed second in both the 400 (58.75) and 800 (2:21.41).
The grade 8 Jays were also winners in the 4×400, finishing in 4:05.81.
The Perry girls were led by a pair of runner-up finishes from each grade.
Zowie Strough was second in both the 100 and 200 hurdles for the Jayette 8th graders, posting times of 18.37 and 33.4, respectively.
Magley Orellana was second in the 100 hurdles for the 7th grade Jayettes with a time of 21.43, with the 4×800 team finishing second in 13:11.07.
The Bluejay grade 7-8 units will visit Nevada Tuesday, with the Jayette 7-8 squads traveling to Winterset. All four of the Perry MS thinclad teams will be in action at Kaufman Track Friday for the Perry Classic, which is slated for a 4:15 p.m. start.
