August 15, 2017

  • Kyle Douglas Goodman, 28, 1305 10th St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault.
  • A caller said “he is getting out of jail and wants an escort” in order to “retrieve some property.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported someone “riding his scooter on Iowa Highway 141.” Officers responded and made contact with the scooter rider, who said he “just got the scooter” and “didn’t know the rules for riding it.” An officer explained the rules for riding scooters.
  • A caller said “someone broke in through the back door of the storage unit and stole a lot of groceries.” An officer responded.
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital requested assistance from an officer of the Perry Police Department with “a female suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.” An officer responded and assisted.
  • A caller said she observed a 14-year-old boy driving a vehicle on the city streets. An officer responded, located the juvenile and “called his father and explained the consequences of his actions.” No enforcement action was taken because the officer “did not observe the juvenile driving.” The officer “left the parent to discipline as he saw fit.”
  • A caller said “she can still smell marijuana coming from her neighbor’s residence.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “said she just caught three kids breaking into her garage.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “said her small child drank a small amount of rubbing alcohol.” The caller “said she would take the child to the hospital herself.”
  • Edwin Alexander Escalante, 33, 1007 Dewey Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.

August 16, 2017

  • A caller reported horses running at large. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said someone “hooked themselves up illegally.” The man said he “has a worker removing the cable.” An officer responded and stood by.
  • A caller said “that his neighbors were arguing.” Officers responded.
  • Susan Mae Knight-Wilbur, 55, 33377 180th St., Granger, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller said “he just got home and had some property destroyed.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “a neighbor had told him” three juvenile males “had looked through his car and possibly taken something.” An officer responded.
  • A caller requested a welfare check on someone who “has not answered her phone for the past five hours.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “there were people fighting in front of the movie theater.” Officers responded but did not find any fighters.

August 17, 2017

  • A caller said he “had a dispute with a coworker who threatened to hurt him.” During the call, the caller “confronted the coworker, and they began to fight.” Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
