WOODWARD — Wins of 11-2 over host Woodward-Granger and of 6-4 over an improved Ogden team Saturday gave Perry a 4-0 mark in the two-day Hawk Classic. Perry was a 4-3 winner over Lewis Central and a 13-1 victor against Madrid Friday.

Junior Sid Vancil toed the rubber for Perry’s first game Saturday and received plenty of offensive support as the Jayette rolled to an 11-2 win in six innings (time limit). Vancil yielded two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two.

Emma Olejniczak hit her first home run in two seasons to help Perry open a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Woodward-Granger’s Kaycee Major answered with a two-run blast of her own to trim the lead to 3-2 after one frame.

The Jayette bats refused to be silenced, as Perry finished with 16 hits in the contest.

Olejniczak added a double and a single and finished with three RBIs, with Rachel Kinney 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs while Alyssa Kruger was 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

Vancil had a single and a double, with Maddie West, Gabby West and Adriana Eastman all adding two hits and a RBI apiece. Kruger and Kinney scored three times apiece, with Vancil and Olejniczak each scoring twice while Eastman crossed the dish once.

Perry faced Ogden on Field 2 at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs (9-5) had a nine-game winning streak snapped in a loss to Class 4A No. 5 Winterset, and had been scoring in heaps.

The Bulldogs managed single runs in each of the first three frames to open a 3-2 lead, as the Jayettes scored twice in the second. Three Perry runs in the fourth and another in the sixth proved more than Ogden could overcome, though the Bulldogs plated a single tally in the fifth.

Perry junior Sid Vancil picked up the win in the circle over host W-G Saturday. Maddie West defends first base for the Jayettes.

All four runs were allowed by Olejniczak, with each unearned. The senior ace issued one walk and yielded six hits. Of Ogden’s 18 outs, 15 were by strikeout.

Kinney was 3-for-3 and T.J. Sheehy 2-for-3 with each scoring twice. Jo Diw was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double while Olejniczak had a triple, drove in one run and scored once.

Maddie West and Vancil also had hits, with West bringing two runs home.

Now 13-4, No. 7 Perry will visit Gilbert Tuesday and ADM Wednesday before hosting Saydel Thursday.
