Panorama's Blaine Barber follows Daniel Jensen around left end against Ogden Sept. 15.

LAST MEETING — A recovered fumble for a touchdown and a kick return score helped turn the tide in a game much closer than the 42-17 win for Panorama might indicate. The Panthers held a 116-75 edge in aerial yards, but the ground game was 198-195. Bruising tailback Logan Klemp carried 16 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns for the Hawks.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS — Panorama started slow before pulling out a 40-24 win over Ogden last week and must not let the same thing happen against a good Hawk team.

Luke South is 21-50-2 for 241 yards through the air and must be more accurate. He is the second-leading rusher, having gained 198 yards and scoring three times on 41 carries.

Blaine Barber (8-75) and Conner Meinecke (7-57) have been his favorite passing targets.

Brody Rickheim’s hard running in the second half sparked the Panthers last week. He has rushed 47 times for 346 times and six visits to the end zone, with Gunnar Grunsted (31-146, 1 TD) and Barber (14-129, 5 TDs) also key parts of the rushing attack.

Trey Cobb (26.5) and Grunsted (23.5) lead the tackle charts, with the team making eight interceptions and falling on four fumbles.

Tanner Godfrey and Michael Allen have each returned a pick for six points, with Barber having both a kick (80 yds) and punt (56 yds) return for touchdowns.

ABOUT THE HAWKS — South Hamilton beat South Hardin, 33-8, and host Roland-Story, 16-13, to start the season, then thumped NW Webster, 46-24, before being blanked, 42-0, at No. 4 Van Meter last week.

Quarterback Marco Balderas is a completely different character than the dual-threat Sam Christensen of Ogden who caused all sorts of problems last Friday for the Panthers. Balderas will not run, and is just 10-20-2 for 83 yards in the air.

Cole Berg (5-30) and Klemp (3-25) are his top targets.

Klemp is a load at 6-3, 215, and is considered by some a possible Division I player. although Van Meter totally shut him down (six carries, eight yards). He has 288 yards and four scores on 41 carries for the season.

D.J. Kloglan (24-240, 2 TDs) and Grant Evans (41-172, 4 TDs) a 5-9, 220 pound fireplug, are not to be overlooked. Tanner Volkman compliments the ground game with 150 yards and two scores on 25 carries.

Klemp has 33 tackles, including four for negative yards and four sacks, with Evans making 23 stops.

The team has intercepted three passes and retrieved four fumbles, returning one for a TD.

OUTLOOK — The Hawks can be a tough nut, but so can the Panthers, and the edge should lie with Panorama, especially if they can get up by more than one score and force the hosts to put the ball in the air.
