2015 Dallas Center Fall Festival soggy but successful

A little sleepy toward the end of the long Saturday afternoon, this little cowgirl watched the pies auctioned off one by one at the Dallas Center Fall Festival.

Friday’s rain might have slowed but could not stop the midway riders and miniature golfers, and the pedal-powered tractor pullers pulled on despite the weather — all parts of the 2015 Dallas Center Fall Festival.

The annual event had its usual activities, with Dallas Center Rotarians serving pancakes Saturday morning and the American Legionnaires dishing up hot dogs, beef burgers and pie at noon.

There were also less usual goings on, such as the ugly cake contest, the lip-syncing contest, the diaper dash, toddler trot and husband-calling contest.

With musical guests, lots of kids’ games and contests galore — the Let the Drums Roar barbecue contest and pie baking contest and auction, for instance — there was something for every taste, from the most traditional to the most suburban.
