Gloomy skies, cool weather and even losses by both the Iowa and Iowa State University football teams were not enough to dampen spirits at the fourth annual Light Up The Knight fundraiser at Dewey Field Saturday.
The event serves as a major means of raising money for the St. Patrick’s Catholic School Home and School Committee, which uses the funds raised to help offset the cost of a variety of activities for students.
Students could purchase coins or earn them based on donations they received of from pledges based on how many laps of Kaufman Track the student would complete. Coins were exchangeable for a variety of games and activities, including inflatables. Tickets won at the games could then be used to purchase glow items, including glow sticks, ropes, bracelets, etc. which were worn during “Glow Laps” after sundown.
Hamburgers and hot dogs were on the grill, with other concessions also available.
Great coverage of this event, Jeff. As usual, nothing about this event was reported on our local radio station news. Keep up the good work of covering events when they happen.
Thank you, DRL. As you have yourself discovered, ThePerryNews is where you can confidently turn for news and sports, breaking or otherwise, most especially if it happens on a weekend or in the evenings, when our competition is nowhere to be found.
