Several members of the Perry Optimist Club spent a pleasant half hour Wednesday morning reading to kindergarten classes at the Perry Elementary School.
“Thank you to Clark, Doc, Misty, Jim and Linda for spending a portion of their day with us yesterday,” said Perry Elementary School Principal Ned Menke, a fellow Perry Optimist Club member. “Our kindergarten students and teachers enjoyed the visit!”
With about 30 active members, the Perry Optimist Club is part of the Optimist International, a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local clubs whose members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities and in themselves.
The Perry Optimist Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Cellar at La Poste. Anyone interested in joining the club is welcome to attend. For more information, call Perry Optimist Club President Jenny Eklund at 515-490-1584.
