The team at the Adel Acres long-term care facility has coordinated with the Adel Police Department to host a family car “parade” Friday, June 26 starting at 9 a.m. and lasting about one hour.

“This will be the first time some residents see their families and go outside of the building in three months!” said one of the event’s organizers.

The vehicle parade will start at the Heartland Area Education Agency at 602 Visions Parkway and travel eastward on Greene Street, turning around at S. 18th Street for a return pass by Adel Acres at 1919 Greene St.

The event is expected to last about one hour, with traffic slowing in front of the facility both times so that families and supporters can yell out their greetings and display their signs to loved ones who will be lined up along the Greene Street side of Adel Acres.

Greene Street will not be blocked off during the parade, and participants will not be allowed to stop traffic, so participants are urged to use caution and common sense during this positive event.
